1999, 2nd Printing. SET OF FIVE DECORATIVE FINE BINDINGS IN A SLIPCASE. ILLUSTRATIVE ENDPAPERS; FRONTISPIECES; ILLUSTRATIONS/COLOR PLATES IN TEXTBLOCKS; INDEXES; 1,605 TOTAL PAGES. The individual books in this beautiful set were first published in different years, 1924,1953, 1963, 1973, 1976. The complete five books were gathered together in a unique set, the contributions of the distinguished historians mark the emergence of the Middle Ages from being a wasteland between two historical peaks, a terra incognita, to its acceptance now as the high ground of European historical reflection. The printing by the upscale Folio Society is in Ibis Wove paper; stunning illustrations; endpapers with detail of Uncial script from a Northern Italian manuscript, late 5th century; and bound in full cloth blocked with a fine design by David Eccles. Set is in New condition, in gift-giving condition. The collector acquired the set from the publisher and never read the books. Book set has been stored in a temperature-controlled room; there are no smoke smells from cigarettes or cigars or pets. The set of five volumes in a slipcase is beautiful and collectible. Store description
We are a well-established, well-respected book dealer who is professional, honest, and ethical in our business dealings. We tend to describe each book in a reserved, conservative manner, rather than oversell a book or sidestep the responsibility of addressing its flaws. Book club editions and library books along with books without dustjackets (if they came with dustjackets) are pointed out in our descriptions. We describe our books in detail, pointing out the precise condition of each book based on our opinion. It's your assurance that the book we describe is as close as possible to the book you will receive. In business since 1991, we typically have the highest ratings on major web sites. It will be a pleasure to serve you. R. Siedlecki R. Siedlecki Vintage Books…
