"You are now holding in your hands a book that took Dale Carnegie seven years to complete - a book that deals with what is probably the greatest personal problem in the world today: worry. This is a practical, concrete, easy-to-read, and inspiring handbook on conquering worry. This book may easily double and treble the happiness you are getting out of life. It may also improve your health, and add years to your life, for half of our hospital beds are filled with people who have made themslves sick by worrying. The average man and woman know that it is wrong and dangerous to worry, that worry saps one's energy, warps thinking, and kills ambition. But the basic question is: Can anything be done to stop worrying? In this book, Dale Carnegie proves that something very definitely CAN be done. He proves it with tested techniques that have worked for thousands of men and women in every walk of life. He offers you here a set of practical formulas that can be put to work tomorrow, and can last a lifetime. This is a book dealing with great truths. You will find it fascinating to read and easy to apply. It may change the whole course of your life." - from the inner front and rear jacket flaps. "How This Book Helped One Reader to Conquer Worry: Three months ago I was so worried that I didn't sleep for four days and nights, and I did not eat a bit of solid food for eighteen days. I felt as if I would go insane or die. I knew I couldn't possibly continue living as I was. The turning point of my life was the day I was given an advance copy of this book. During the last three months I have practically lived with this book, studying every page. The change that has occurred in my mental outlook and emotional stability is almost unbelievable. I now realize that in the past I was being drivien half-mad, not by today's problems, but by the bitterness and anxiety over something that had happened yesterday or that I feared might happen tomorrow. Now, when I am faced with the kind of problems that used to drive me half crazy, I immediately start to apply the principles I learned from this book; I calmly set about trying to apply the three steps outlined in Chapter 2, Part One. Since reading this book I am really experiencing a new and glorious way of life. I can sleep nine hours a night. I enjoy my food. A veil has been lifted from me. I can now see and enjoy the beauty of the world whichi surrounds me. I thank God for life now and for the privilege of living in such a wonderful world." - Kathryne Holcome Farmer, Deputy Sheriff, Sheriff's Office, Mobile, Alabama. - from the inner rear jacket flap.
