Proven Process for Changing Habits -- Outcome Visioning for Willpower to Succeed --Stop Bad Habits and Start Good Habits
This is not another self-help book that tells you what you are doing wrong and what you should be doing. It is a how-to practical guide for changing habits: stop bad habits and start good habits so you can change your life. Outcome Visioning provides the motivation and willpower needed for sustainable habit change. It captures the power of meditation, hypnosis, affirmations, and creative visualization to keep you on track.
Stop or Start Habits with Outcome Visioning is a practical, step-by-step, proven process developed from the leading research and updated with the latest techniques. Because your time is limited, its concise content means you can read it in one or two sittings, and it takes only 5 to 7 minutes twice a day to implement once the habit-change plan is developed.
Habits that need attention vary with each individual. That’s why the book features 17 areas for change: healthy eating, health and fitness, general health, inner self, general well-being, relationships, money management, effective communication, sex, spiritual growth, positive parenting, children and teens, separation and divorce, dating, career development, leisure and travel, and the environment. The appendix has approximately 200 bad habits to stop and 400 good habits to start in these areas.
To help develop your plan for changing habits, there is a unique feature not offered in other books on habits: ,continuing case histories. See how Debbie, Sally, and Adam develop their complete plans for healthy eating, self-esteem, and anger management, respectively. The action steps at the end of chapters provide the means for you to build your plan as you go along—like Debbie, Sally, and Adam did.
Support while changing habits is critical. That’s why the author, Dave Sellars, PhD (aka Dr Habits) offers more support for Stop or Start Habits with Outcome Visioning than any book of its kind: a blog, newsletter, videos, and more. Support from Dave and his community is also available at DrHabits on social media. The mission of the support group is Share. Learn. Grow. Coach.
Changing habits is a means to an end. The real focus of this how-to book is to help you establish a more successful, fulfilling, and happier life for you and your loved ones.

About the Author
I’m Dave Sellars (aka Dr Habits) author of Stop or Start Habits with Outcome Visioning. As a former university professor, I have guided thousands of students in building good habits that allowed them to meet their educational and career goals. As a life coach for changing habits, my current focus is on helping you stop bad habits and start good habits so you can lead the life you want to live.
In my mid-twenties I realized I had personal problems that were formed in childhood. So I began a thirty-year journey of self-discovery and personal growth. I studied and used many therapeutic treatments to solve my problems: transcendental meditation under the leadership of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Gestalt therapy, transactional analysis, Rolfing, auditing therapy offered by the Church of Scientology, hypnosis, subliminal tapes, yoga, journaling, and many self-help books. Throughout these years I sought counseling from at least eight psychologists. The most beneficial means to address the problems was counseling.
In 2008 I had an aha moment. I was reading a book on personal growth and saw a definition of habit. It said a habit is a pattern of behavior, thoughts, or feelings. The question came to mind, “Isn’t all personal growth dependent on changes in behavior, thoughts, and feelings?” To test my theory I began to record habits that I observed in myself and others. My investigation continued with reading more than 100 books and articles on habits and how they affect people’s lives. My personal experiences and research have convinced me that if you want to change your life, you must change your habits.
This personal revelation was so important that I decided to use what I learned to help myself and others interested in changing habits. I’d written books in other areas, but this led me to write my practical guide to habit change. Stop or Start Habits with Outcome Visioning offers a step-by-step proven process to changing habits. Outcome Visioning provides the motivation and willpower needed to change.
Click on Look Inside to see the Table of Contents. It indicates the 17 areas of personal growth that are the focus of my work. There are approximately 200 bad habits to stop and 400 good habits to start in the appendix of the book.
I hope you read the book and share your questions and experiences with me and many others in my community on social media under DrHabits.
