The sixth edition of Statistics:
- provides a first-class introduction to the subject with careful, lucid explanations;
- discusses statistics in six parts:
- Introduction
- Compilation and presentation
- Frequency distributions
- Correlation
- Time series and index numbers
- Sampling theory and inference;
- offers complete coverage of introductory professional and academic courses on statistics and quantitative methods;
- features end-of-chapter assignments, numerous practice questions with worked answers and a large appendix of examination questions.
Synopsis: This sixth edition has been updated in terms of the developments in the syllabi and examination questions set by business studies examining bodies. Additionally, other items have been revised. Since the ability to analyze data mathematically and then interpret the results is fundamental to the statistical work in most examination questions, the author has concentrated on these aspects of the subject. As with all the handbooks in this series, every chapter ends with a progress test - most of which have suggested answers given. Additionally, the progress tests often include one or more assignments. These are questions for which no answers are given and which essentially call for more extensive workings than normal. It is aimed at students taking introductory courses on statistics and quantitative methods, including CIMA, ACCA, ICAEW, AAT, ICOMA, IPS, ICSA, CII, CIT, BTEC / HND and other business studies courses. It is recommended reading for AAT Paper 8: Statistics.
