This book offers a critical examination of the United States Department of State's Information Program, highlighting its role in disseminating American ideals and countering Soviet influence during the Cold War. The author presents a detailed analysis of the program's activities, focusing on its use of cultural diplomacy, propaganda, and covert operations. Through extensive research and firsthand accounts, the book delves into the successes and failures of the program, exploring its impact on international relations and the broader struggle for hearts and minds during this pivotal era. I want you to know today, however, that the giving of the list is not a condition precedent to making the balance of the testimony public; that you are ordered to give the list today.
Mr. Wechsler. Senator, may I make the statement that I prepared and proceed from that with the statement that you will put in the record?
