Inscribed by the editor? on the half title page: "To the best mother-in-law I ever had -- Herb." Contains 20 essays about the writing of the history of the United States by 24 historians including Richard C. Wade, Roderick Nash, and Edward Pessen. Book is in Near Fine Condition: gift inscription (from the editor?); otherwise, clean and tight. Dust jacket is in Good+ Condition: lightly soiled; rubbed with minor loss at spine ends and corners; spine is sunned; solid.
