Paperback. We live as though the world is exactly as it appears - solid, immediate, and centred around a self that thinks, chooses, and experiences. But what if this is only part of the story?Beginning with light - the foundation of how we see the universe - this book explores the deeper structure of reality, moving from physics and time to perception and consciousness. Drawing on relativity, quantum theory, and neuroscience, it examines what science reveals about the world we take for granted. As each layer is examined, familiar assumptions begin to shift. The enquiry then turns inward. How is perception constructed? Where does the sense of "I" come from - and what remains when it is examined directly? Across centuries and cultures, thinkers in Advaita Vedanta, Buddhism, Zen, and other contemplative traditions have investigated these questions not merely as philosophy, but as lived experiences. Their insights, placed alongside modern science, point toward something that neither tradition can fully articulate alone. This book does not offer answers to believe in. It offers something more direct: a way of looking that may quietly transform how you understand reality - and yourself. This item is printed on demand. What if modern physics and ancient spirituality have been approaching the same mystery from opposite directions?
Modern physics has made the universe stranger than it once seemed. Matter is not quite as solid as it appears. Time is not absolute. What we observe depends profoundly on how reality is encountered and measured. In the equations of quantum gravity, time does not appear at all. It emerges only when systems interact, when information is exchanged, when relationship creates the sense of before-and-after.
For thousands of years, spiritual masters such as Buddha, Krishna, Shiva, Ibn Arabi, Rumi, Meister Eckhart, Ramana Maharshi, Adi Shankara and more have questioned something equally fundamental: the apparent solidity of the self. Is there really an independent “I” at the centre of experience - or is the person we take ourselves to be something constructed through thought, memory, perception, and consciousness?
Let Us Start with Light brings these two seemingly distant worlds into one conversation.
The book begins with physics and ends somewhere quieter. It moves through relativity, quantum theory, perception, and consciousness - and alongside, through Advaita Vedanta, Buddhism, and Zen. Not as belief. As enquiry.
This is not a book that offers conclusions. It is a book that loosens what you were certain of - and invites you to look at what remains.
If matter is not quite what it appears to be, if time is stranger than our everyday experience suggests, and if perception itself is constructed - then what about the seemingly unquestionable “me” experiencing all of this?
What if the world is not quite what we think it is?
And what if we are not, either?
For readers drawn to modern physics, consciousness, philosophy, spirituality, and the mystery of human existence, Let Us Start with Light is an invitation to explore not only the nature of reality, but the one who believes they are experiencing it.
