Paperback. STARBOURNE An imaginative and immersive high-fantasy debut, inspired by the bloodthirsty history of the Dark Ages of the fifth century and filled with treachery, court intrigue, elvish lore and magick. Magick died the night Maley was found. The night Fae magick vanished from the world, a green-skinned baby appeared on the side of a lonely mountain, able to wield living flame when all other power had been snuffed out. Raised in secrecy by a brutal religious order, Maley grows up hunted, feared, and forbidden from knowing who she truly is. Maley is quartered with the insufferable Shield cadets. The Shields are trained to hunt the last of the unmastered Fae. As ancient forces stir and the stars themselves begin to fall, a dark entity known only as the Black Smoke Man rises from legend to find the one the gods named Starfall. Across fractured realms, elves in hiding, enslaved Princes, fallen courts, and forgotten gods prepare for a reckoning centuries in the making. Maley's power is no accident. Nor is the cruelty that shaped her, yet there remains hope in the form of a Prince without a crown and a cursed raven named Bird. To survive, she must uncover the truth of her origin, claim a magick older than the kingdoms themselves, and decide whether she will burn the world that betrayed her or save it from the horror of enslavement and war. Starbourne is a sweeping grimdark high fantasy of lost magick, divine prophecy, and rebellion against cruel gods, perfect for readers who love immersive worlds, lyrical storytelling, and slow-burn revelations that reward patience with devastating payoff. - Book 1 of 1: STARBOURNE Chronicles. Magick has been stolen. A curse is on these lands. A dark fairytale romantasy
MAGICK HAS BEEN STOLEN. A CURSE LIES UPON THESE LANDS. A CHAMPION MUST ARISE. SHOULD THEY FAIL, ALL FAE SHALL BE LOST FOREVER.
So begins Starbourne, the Grimdark Chronicles ...
Long before the tale of Sleeping Beauty, two unlikely heroes met as slaves within the Black Fortress of the Temple, ruled by a ruthless High Priestess.
In the Dark Age, the elves and the Fae are enslaved, magick has vanished from the Kingdoms, and the Pendragon King rules the United Realms with an iron fist. When the courageous slave Maley discovers she possesses forbidden magick, her life is changed forever. After stumbling upon the Codex of Elendil—a sacred relic hidden for centuries—she uncovers the first threads of a destiny that could restore magick... or destroy everything.
Her only ally is Bird, the raven she rescued as a helpless chick. Fiercely loyal and hiding secrets of his own, Bird is far more than he appears. Bound by an ancient oath, he has returned to the worlds for a purpose that will change both their fates.
Together they must face the shadow of an ancient evil, outwit deadly enemies, survive royal intrigue, and embark upon a perilous quest to rescue the Crown Prince of the Elves. But with every step, the darkness grows stronger—and failure will condemn the Fae to extinction.
Perfect for readers who love dark fairy tale retellings, epic fantasy, and unforgettable heroes, Starbourne is the gripping first book in a grimdark duology inspired by the world of Sleeping Beauty.
