Synopsis: This is the story of Oleg Penkovsky, the highest ranking Soviet official ever to co-operate with the West. During the 1960s Penkovsky provided the CIA and MI6 with large amounts of data on Soviet military capabilities. This book examines the ways in which Penovsky's meetings with the CIA were arranged, what their consequences were and the methods employed by the KGB to hunt down renegades. The authors had access to the transcripts of Penkovsky's meetings with the CIA.
