Well respected local authors Chris Aspin and John Simpson have produced by far the greatest photographic record of the Lancashire village of Haslingden ever seen. In hardback, with over 300 black and white photographs and very detailed captions, 'Spirit of Haslingden' tells a pictorial tale of both people and buildings, of war and peace, of schools and churches, of parades and protests, of work and play. Few people with Haslingden roots will fail to recognise the people pictured, especially as the book brings the Haslingden story right up to the 21st century. A work of history certainly but also a book with an eye on the village's present and future.
