Tonya Lewis was born in Texas in 1962. A very physical artist, Lewis enjoys the tactile qualities of paint, papier-mache, and pastels. She likes to layer different media and etch into her work after it has dried to reveal the colors beneath. Her art varies between abstract and figurative, and she prefers to work on a large scale.

Tonya is an artist who works at Creativity Explored, a nonprofit visual arts center in San Francisco where artists with developmental disabilities have been creating, exhibiting, and selling art for over 27 years. See more of her work at www.creativityexplored.org.
