About the Author: Gudrun Krämer is Professor of Islamic Studies at the Free University, Berlin. She has published extensively on Middle Eastern history, Islamic movements and Islamic political thought. Sabine Schmidtke is Professor of Islamic Studies at the Free University, Berlin. She has published extensively on Islamic and Jewish intellectual history.
