About this Item
This is the excellent Guadalquiver edition of 1885, which was limited to 600 numbered copies, 400 of which were issued in one volume, but only 40 were issued in 2 volumes, printed upon Watman paper and accompanied by an extra set of proof etchings and photogravures. This is number 39 of those rare 40 copies. Well illustrated with tissue-guarded etchings and Japan proofs, including views of towns such as Barcelona, Saragossa and Madrid. Also featured are Burgos, Valladollid, Aranjuez, Toledo, Cordova, Seville, Cadiz, Malaga, Granada and Valencia. Illuminated red capital letter at start of each chapter. The texts are in very good, tight, clean condition, with no inscriptions. There is some light age-browning on some of the tissue guards, which has transferred to some of the plates, but generally little and mostly confined to the blank margins. The bindings are very good and tight, with a couple of small edge knocks and wear and fading to the printed paper title panels on the spines. Excellent illustrations. Pagination 244, 219. Weight 3801g. See photographs attached. (H-44). Seller Inventory # BM13583
