Starship Orion Four travels almost 50 years to reach Mars, the planet of origin of the Mayan people now living on Hyksos in Constellation Draco. After reaching the intended destination, starship Commander Armant Zeus sees little value in any archeological or anthropological research of this uninhabitable planet. He wants to colonize Earth, instead. One of his pilots, Captain Pallas Athena, warns him that, if he doesn't allow this to happen, there might be a mutiny on the starship. Most people aboard support the mission to discover why their ancestors left Mars thousands of years ago. When two crew members die during this mission, Commander Zeus is accused of murder. That event begins an erosion of the command structure aboard the starship. Captain Athena investigates and clears the commander, but eventually he is arrested for murdering his wife. Months later, they are contacting humanoids on planet Earth. However, a volcanic eruption at their base on a Caribbean island destroys their shuttle. Now, they can't colonize this planet.
