It happens gradually. The job that felt like a win becomes the one you can't afford to leave. The city that held your excitement becomes the city where your lease simply renews. The life you built starts to run itself; and somewhere in the middle of it all, you forgot to ask if you'd still build it the same way today.

The Space Between is about that gap:

Between what we wanted when we chose a path, and what it actually delivers once it becomes ordinary.
Between the advantage as we imagined it, and the anchor it quietly became.
Between the person you were when you started, and the person you are now.

A Framework for Useful Discomfort

This is not about quitting your life. This book will help you to see it more clearly. Written by a philosopher who codes databases and sails offshore on a 1986 Baltic 42, this perspective doesn't come from a corner office or a speaking circuit. It comes from the lived experience of dismantling "correct" arrangements that felt wrong from the inside, and figuring out, methodically, why.

Kobus Veldsman provides a framework for understanding how your current desires were formed, how they have shifted, and the hidden cost of honouring them past their expiry date.

Inside "The Space Between," you will discover:

The Logic of the Anchor: Why we stay in situations that no longer serve us.
The Maintenance Trap: How to identify when you've stopped growing and started merely "managing" your existence.
Practical Clarity: Tools to trace your dissatisfaction back to its source and decide what to do with what you find.

If you've ever felt the quiet friction of living inside a life that no longer quite fits-not broken, not dramatic, just slightly off - this book was written for that feeling. It names it. It traces it. It gives you a way out.

Stop maintaining. Start choosing.
