This 6.25 x 9.25 inch, 446 page hardcover book with dust wrapper is the stated 1963 first edition of this title as stated on the copyright page. This book is in fine condition with no wear or damage showing to the tan cloth covers with maroon Indian motif on front panel and maroon block with gilt lettering and design on the spine. The interior text again shows no real damage, markings, or wear - - with the binding square and solid and the pages crisp and clean. This title has long been held as one of the best treatments of the Cheyenne people, their culture and organization, and their struggle for accommodation with the incoming European-Americans. The book features maps and black-and-white photos. The dust wrapper is in very good condition with touches of wear at the edges of the wrapper - - and with several small chips and creasings at the spine and fold extremities.
