From the Back Cover
The Source for Effective Church Service Planning gives you tried and tested service-programming material from Willow Creek Community Church and offers hundreds of ideas for integrating the arts into your worship services. This book supplements your creative process, helping you relate biblical truth to the people who walk through your church doors.
You'll find creative ideas for a huge variety of subjects and occasions. Do you want to plan a service that addresses Christian character? Workplace issues? Leadership? The lordship of Christ? Family relationships? A service for baptism, communion, Thanksgiving, Easter, Christmas? Thematic listings of services include topics on Christian life issues, holidays, special services, the identity of God, relationship with God, relationships, seeker issues, and social issues.
Each service outline offers suggestions in five categories:
· Message Titles: These are titles Willow Creek teaching pastors have used over the years, offering ideas for your own message titles
· Dramas: Each listing includes tone, topic, and gender of players, and all sketches listed are available through Willow Creek Resources online
· Songs: Suggestions for presentational music by contemporary Christian artists include a seeker sensitivity rating
· Worship Choruses: NEW! Listings help churches of all denominations, philosophies, and worship styles plan a weekly worship service
· Movie Clips: These include information on movie title, topic, clip description, start time, start cue, end time, end cue, and comments
This revised edition of The Source has all the benefits of the first edition, with even more features. This updated and improved resource not only appeals to seeker-oriented churches, but offers helpful features for any church that uses contemporary music, drama, or video in their services.
Other special features:
· An alphabetical song index that includes artist, label, style, tempo, themes, and seeker sensitivity ratings to help you choose appropriate music for each message
· Drama index that includes topics, characters, and storyline summaries
· Package suggestions for combining songs, dramas, and movie clips where one element follows another to maintain creative and emotional flow
