It is said that all European architecture is derived from Greece, through Rome, and the history of architecture is nothing but tracing the various modes and directions of this derivation.
Our Colonial is derived from the same source. The clew is easily followed back to a point of origin, and there is some thing very much more satisfactory in an art that had its beginning in a venerable classic integrity than in new-fangled and Short-lived novelties.
