Khalil Kassmi , born in Casablanca, Morocco, in 1963, is a distinguished academic and researcher specializing in electronics and renewable energy. He completed his higher education at Paul Sabatier University (PSU) in Toulouse, France, from 1983 to 1991. In 1991, he earned his PhD in Electronics from PSU, conducting research at the Laboratory of Automatic and Analysis of Systems (LAAS/CNRST) within the MOS Technology team. In 1992, he joined SGS Thomson-Casablanca as an engineer, where he was responsible for the assembly line of power electronic components, including TO220 and thyristors. A year later, in 1993, he transitioned to academia, joining Mohammed 1st University in Oujda, Morocco, as a professor-researcher. He obtained his second PhD (Doctorat d'État) in Electronics in 1996. Since 2000, he has been a full professor at the same university. Currently, Khalil Kassmi leads the research team ‘Materials, Electronics, and Renewable Energies (MERE),’ focusing on materials and electronic components, photovoltaic cells and systems, and solar energy applications. Under his supervision, numerous PhD theses have been successfully completed. His academic contributions include co-authoring over 100 publications and international conference presentations in the field of photovoltaic renewable energy, covering materials, cells, and systems. Professor Kassmi has been coordinating national and international projects related to solar and photovoltaic renewable energy, both in education and research, since 2002 (projects: Actions intégrées, PROTARS, PMARS, LEAP-RE, WBI, ARICA, etc.). He holds five patents in photovoltaic control and regulation, particularly in photovoltaic-powered heating systems. As an expert evaluator for Morocco’s National Center for Scientific and Technical Research (CNRST) in Rabat, he has significantly contributed to the scientific community since October 2019. Additionally, he serves as a reviewer for several indexed journals. He is the editor of the book chapter collection Solar Water Heating: Fundamentals and Applications (Nova Science Publishers, 2021) and co-editor of another book chapter collection (Taylor & Francis Group, 2021). His expertise has earned him recognition as a thought leader in renewable energy technologies, and his work continues to inspire advancements in the field

Olivier Deblecker (1971) received the degree in civil electrical engineering and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering in 1995 and 2001, respectively. He is currently a Professor and Head of the Electrical Power Engineering Unit at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Mons (Belgium). Since 2018, he is also the academic coordinator of the Joint Certificate Programme in Energy Electronics gathering partners from 4 Belgian universities and two of the major companies in Belgium (Alstom, Thalès Alenia Space) involved in that field. His research activities include the following main topics: power electronic systems and, more particularly, DC-DC power converters for space and auxiliary railway power supply applications (optimal design and control), modelling of electromagnetic systems operating at intermediate frequencies, wireless (contactless) power transfer applications, micro-grids (mainly power quality aspects). He is also a member of EPE - European Power Electronics Association, since 2003, and IEEE - Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, since 2009.
