Software Engineering for Vibe Coders: The Essential Guide for Startup Non-Technical Founders
Turn your AI-powered code into production-ready software that scales.
AI tools like ChatGPT and Copilot let anyone build software faster than ever — but speed without structure can destroy a startup. Many early projects collapse under technical debt, inconsistent code, and missing foundations. This book shows how to bridge that gap between rapid AI-assisted development and real software engineering.
Software Engineering for Vibe Coders teaches non-technical founders and AI-assisted developers how to turn quick prototypes into maintainable, scalable products. You’ll learn the proven engineering principles that keep modern SaaS projects alive long after the first launch.
Author Tom Smykowski, a professional software engineer who has helped unicorn startups integrate AI tools into their workflows, distills years of experience into clear, practical lessons. No academic fluff — just startup-tested methods for building software that lasts.
What You’ll LearnHow to manage technical debt before it destroys your product
How to apply Separation of Concerns and DRY principles to keep code organized
How to design architecture that scales with your growth
How to introduce testing, version control, and security into fast-moving teams
How to work with AI tools effectively without letting them create chaos
Startup founders who want to understand and control their tech stack
Vibe coders turning AI prototypes into real products
Indie developers and SaaS builders looking for sustainable success
Anyone who codes with AI and wants to write cleaner, more reliable software
Each chapter breaks down a key engineering concept — from managing tech debt and refactoring to setting coding standards, performing code reviews, and securing your app — with examples drawn from real startup experience.
Whether you’re building your first product or leading a growing team, this book will help you think like a software engineer while still moving fast like a founder.
