Synopsis:
Modelled on "Surfaces" (published 1996), this collection of photographs catalogues how hundreds of varieties of textiles, grouped by structure and surface treatment, look up close and in interior and exterior applications, such as window treatments, upholstery, awnings, tents and floor coverings. The book is tailored to research needs in scope and focus, offering examples for architects, interior designers, theatrical and film designers, illustrators and graphic designers. Interviews with professionals describe how they use visual research in their work. The accompanying CD-ROM also provides images of the textiles.
About the Author: Judy A. Juracek works as a scenic artist in film, television, theatre and opera. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, she was on the design and production faculty at the North California School of the Arts, where she was a co-founder of the North Carolina Shakespeare festival. She has also given classes at Parsons School of Design, New York; York College, Toronto; and Webster College, St. Louis. Judy A. Juracek has designed scenery and costumes for regional theatre, opera and ballet, and for theatre in New York City. As a scenic artist she has worked on productions at the Metropolitan Opera, New York, and on the films Dead Man Walking, Deconstructing Harry, You've Got Mail and A Perfect Murder.
