Print on Demand. This book explores the profound social and economic transformations taking place as societies around the world entered an era of unprecedented human mobility. The author argues that the ability of people to move more easily from one place to another is fundamentally changing the nature of society and the relationships between nations. The book delves into the motivations and consequences of migration, examining the challenges and opportunities it presents to both sending and receiving communities. The author posits that societies must adapt to the new realities of migration by developing policies that balance the need for human movement with the preservation of national identity and well-being. By providing a comprehensive analysis of the complex dynamics of human migration, this book offers valuable insights into one of the defining issues of our time. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

We modems are like mariners on a ship sail ing an uncharted sea. We cannot lay our course in the light of the experience of our ancestors. None of them ever plowed these waters; that is to say, before us no folk ever practised machine production, let its daughters work away from home, bestowed leisure upon multitudes of its wives, saved its babies, vanquished disease, and slew its foes by mechanism, to the extent that we do. So study of the past can not reassure us as to how these things are going to work out.
