Its success was assured by the participation of distinguished scholars and edu cators from the organizing departments as well as from a number of other American institutions of higher learning. Not all who partici pated are included in this volume drawn from the conference, but we are grateful to all, equally, for their contribution as discussants. On behalf of the chairmen and members of the participating de partments, I would like to express thanks to the panelists for making their papers available for publication. I would also like to express my gratitude to Mr. Morton Globus for his generosity and to Acting President Arthur Tiedemann and Professor Jerome Siegel, the Acting Dean of the Social Science Division of The City College, for their consistent support of this project. Finally, I would like to express my appreciation to the publisher, Martinus Nijhoff Publishing, for its patience and cooperation and to my wife, Elizabeth Braham, for her ~dvice and editorial assistance. 190 pp. Englisch.…
