Published the year before the first Winter Olympic Games were held in Chamonix, in France, January 1924, this book discusses many winter sports, the selection of equipment, and one chapter on "The Importance of Being Properly Dressed." Sports included are skiing, ski jumping, snowshoeing, tobogganing, winter mountaineering, walking on ice-creepers, camping in the snow, ice fishing, ice boat sailing, scootering, sailing on skates, figure skating, ice hockey, and curling. Also included is a chapter on snow photography. A final chapter titled, "Winter Week-Ends at Dartmouth," discusses the Hanover, New Hampshire Ivy League school, Dartmouth College s tradition of Winter Carnival. The annual winter weekend athletic event was first organized by the Dartmouth Outing Club in 1910, and celebrates winter sports.
