Sniff Squad: The Detective Book That Teaches Real Dog Training Skills
A story-driven dog training book for kids that turns real scent-work skills into detective missions.
Every other dog training book for kids is a manual. Sniff Squad is a case file.
Your child isn't just learning commands, they're Agent-in-training, working an active investigation (Operation: Crumb Bandit) that only cracks open one dog-training mission at a time. Each chapter teaches a real scent-work skill, then sends your kid and their dog out to use it to chase down the next clue. It's the book that makes "let's go train the dog" turn into "can we do our next mission?"
Written by Agent Max, who trains her own two scent-detective Beagliers and built Sniff Squad spent her youth running backyard detective clubs for real kids.
Perfect for ages 8-13 who love animals, mysteries, and earning something they're actually proud of.
Inside the case file:
- 10 detective missions teaching real scent-work skills, including search patterns, target odor recognition, and scent pooling, through games dogs genuinely love playing
- The case of the Crumb Bandit, an ongoing mystery that runs through every chapter, so each new skill also moves the investigation forward
- Official badges earned at each mission, building real motivation to keep training instead of quitting after week one
- Super Sniffer Science Alerts: real facts about how a dog's nose works, dropped in exactly where they matter for the mission
- Field journaling pages to log clues, track training progress, and build sharp observation skills
- Real-world skills like patience, responsibility, and problem-solving, built in through the training itself, not bolted on as a lesson
"After forty years in education, I can say this is a standout resource," writes one reviewer, a senior education professional from Australia. He singled out the badge system as "a brilliant touch" that gives kids a real sense of accomplishment and keeps them motivated to finish every mission.
No prior training experience needed. Works with any dog, any age, any backyard. Built for a parent and kid to do together, so ordinary walks turn into shared missions.
Continue the case with the companion Sniff Squad Field Journal: extra mission logs, puzzles, and a badge tracker for round two.
Step into the case. Join the Sniff Squad.
