Artificial intelligence is shaping our world in fascinating ways, from digital assistants to self-driving cars. But AI can seem complex and intimidating. This fun and engaging book unravels the mysteries of AI for pre-teens and teens ages 10-19 in an accessible way.
In ‘AI for Smart Pre-Teens and Teens Ages 10-19’, you will learn all about the building blocks of AI, including machine learning, deep learning and neural networks. The book covers the history of AI from early computational systems up through the cutting-edge innovations powering the future. You will discover how AI already impacts your daily life and see future applications in healthcare, sustainability, and more. Younger readers can start off by reading "AI for Smart Kids Ages 6-9" - you can find links to this title by exploring the author profile page.
In this book, we will learn what leading AI experts like Sam Altman, Andrew Ng, Elon Musk, Satya Nadella, and others think about the role AI will play in the future. The book also stresses the importance of addressing ethics and bias in these powerful systems. A special chapter provides resources to continue your AI education, like online courses, competitions, and open-source communities.
Learning about AI is a fun adventure because advanced algorithms and neural network software can master skills like pattern recognition, strategy and decision making. We’ll explore famous milestones when AI systems defeated human experts by learning to excel at classic Atari video games all the way to outmaneuvering Go and poker champions. You’ll pick up some basic coding and math concepts used by AI along the way. Just to give you a sense of the connection between games and AI, consider the breakthroughs below:
- 1950s - The Turing Test & Early Neural Networks The concept of AI was born when Alan Turing proposed the "Imitation Game" to test a machine's ability to exhibit intelligent behavior indistinguishable from a human. Early neural networks attempted to simulate human brain cells.
- 1997 - Deep Blue Defeats Chess World Champion IBM's Deep Blue supercomputer made history by being the first computer to beat a world chess champion, Garry Kasparov, demonstrating AI’s competitiveness.
- 2011 - IBM Watson Wins Jeopardy Watson wowed the world by defeating Jeopardy’s all-time champion players using natural language processing to answer complex quiz questions, showcasing AI’s language comprehension skills.
- 2014 - AI Software Masters Atari Games DeepMind's AI algorithm learned how to play classic Atari video games by watching pixels on the screen, reaching human-competitive levels in many games using reinforcement learning.
- 2016-Present - AI Defeats Go and Poker Champions AI programs AlphaGo and Pluribus achieve Grandmaster-level play in the complex board game Go and multiplayer poker outplaying the world’s best human players, proving mastery over intricate strategy games.
As you can see, you don't need to be an expert to learn from this book. All you need is some curiosity and the willingness to learn and persevere. Whether you're a total beginner in AI or already coding, this book will empower you to participate in the AI revolution. You will gain basic AI literacy and skills for creating innovative projects, and pursuing STEM careers. Most importantly, you'll be ready to help shape how AI technologies are used to benefit society. Unlock the mysteries of AI and start unleashing your inner expert today!

We give people around the world the opportunity to contribute to the circular economy, earn money and protect the planet, by trading their unwanted books and media. - Shopiago: Through Shopiago, we help others. By sharing the technology that has grown World of Books Group into the business it is today, we’re helping charities increase revenue and reduce waste through re-commerce.…
