TURN YOUR HOME INTO AN INTELLIGENT LIVING SPACE—WITHOUT SPENDING A FORTUNE OR HIRING A PROFESSIONAL.
What if your lights turned on automatically when you entered a room? What if your home could alert you to unexpected visitors, monitor itself while you're away, save energy automatically, and respond instantly to your voice?
The future of smart living isn't reserved for technology companies or expensive commercial systems anymore.
With nothing more than a Raspberry Pi, a few affordable components, and the right guidance, you can build your own intelligent home from the ground up.
Smart Home Automation with Raspberry Pi is your practical, step-by-step blueprint to designing, building, and expanding powerful DIY smart home systems—even if you've never worked with electronics or programming before.
Whether you want to improve home security, automate everyday tasks, reduce energy costs, or simply explore the exciting world of home automation, this book will guide you every step of the way.
Inside, you'll discover how to:
• Set up and configure your Raspberry Pi with confidence
• Understand electronics and GPIO without feeling overwhelmed
• Learn the essential Python skills needed for automation projects
• Build smart lighting systems that respond automatically to motion and schedules
• Create home security systems using motion sensors, cameras, and door monitors
• Design voice-controlled systems that interact naturally with your home
• Monitor temperature, humidity, and environmental conditions in real time
• Access and control your smart home remotely from your smartphone
• Build intelligent energy-saving systems that reduce unnecessary power usage
• Combine multiple devices into fully integrated smart home ecosystems
• Troubleshoot common problems and create reliable long-term automation systems
• Explore advanced projects involving artificial intelligence, IoT, robotics, and future smart technologies
Unlike books that focus only on theory, this guide emphasizes hands-on learning through practical, real-world projects that deliver immediate results. Every chapter is designed to help you build skills progressively while creating automation systems you can actually use in your everyday life.
You don't need an engineering degree. You don't need expensive equipment. And you certainly don't need prior experience.
All you need is curiosity, a willingness to learn, and the desire to build something extraordinary.
If you're ready to stop imagining a smarter home and start building one yourself, then this book is your perfect place to begin.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
