Run a calmer, safer, better-organized dog and cat practice, with every procedure, form, and training checklist already written for you.
Most veterinary clinics run on habit. One receptionist books appointments one way, another does it differently. New hires learn by watching whoever happens to be on shift. Forms go missing, consents get skipped, and the same client complaints come back again and again. The fix is clear, written systems, but few practice owners or managers have the time to write hundreds of pages of them from scratch.
The Small Animal Practice Operations Manual does that work for you. It is a complete, ready-to-adapt operations system for general practices that treat dogs and cats, organized so your whole team can follow the same steps every day, from the first phone call to the final discharge.
Inside, you will find:
- 120 step-by-step standard operating procedures (SOPs) across 38 chapters, each with a clear purpose, scope, responsibilities, and steps
- 115 ready-to-copy forms, logs, consents, and checklists, matched by name to the SOPs that use them
- 50 client handouts on everyday dog and cat care, ready to brand with your clinic’s name and phone number
- Low-stress handling protocols for fearful, fractious, and higher-risk dogs and cats
- Staff onboarding plans, competency sign-offs, and continuing education records
- Infection control, isolation, zoonoses, waste disposal, and staff safety programs
- Rabies and licensing, controlled substance, records, consent, and telehealth procedures
- Pricing, inventory, wellness plan, marketing, and performance measurement tools
- A glossary, breed and unit reference tables, a regulatory contacts worksheet, and a full index
The manual is organized into ten parts:
Part I: Building a Well-Run Small Animal Practice
Part II: Front Desk and Client Services
Part III: Patient Handling and Records
Part IV: Hospitalization and Patient Care
Part V: Surgery, Anesthesia, Dentistry, and Diagnostics
Part VI: Infection Control and Zoonoses
Part VII: Legal and Regulatory
Part VIII: Team Training
Part IX: Business and Growth
Part X: Forms and Client Handout Library
Every SOP is built to be customized. Each one shows where to add your clinic’s own details, and clinical decisions are clearly marked for your veterinarian’s approved protocols. The manual contains no drug doses or treatment protocols, so it fits the way your practice already works.
As a purchaser, you may photocopy the forms, logs, checklists, and client handouts for use in your own practice.
This manual is ideal for:
- Practice owners opening a new clinic or reorganizing an existing one
- Practice and hospital managers building consistent, trainable systems
- Head technicians and veterinary nurses training new team members
- Receptionists and client service teams who want clear answers and scripts
- Anyone preparing a practice for growth, a new location, or a change of ownership
Stop rewriting the same instructions every time someone new joins your team. Give them one manual, and run the practice you always meant to run.
