The second of the RPSI blue engines is chronicled in "Slieve Gullion", which is a study of the GNRI inside cylindered S class, an eight strong group, of which the surviving No 171 is the main subject of this book.
About the Author: Charles Friel, a civil servant, is a well known rail photographer whose work has appeared regularly in the national transport press. He is also author of 'Merlin', No 1 in the Colourpoint Transport Series and co-author of 'Fermanagh's Railways'. Charles is a popular lecturer in railway circles, combining scholarship with humour in an entertaining and informative way.
