Neuware - When a quiet holiday erupts into a deadly siege, one man will discover the hero within-or die trying. Steve Taylor, a wearied autoworker with a sharp wit, never expected a routine shopping trip to turn into the fight of his life. But as gunmen invade, transforming the local store into a war zone, he finds himself the unexpected pawn in a vicious game of cat and mouse.Undetected by the perpetrators and torn between self-preservation and a deep sense of duty, Steve is thrust into an unlikely partnership with the SWAT team that's barricaded outside. Every tense tick of the clock is a reminder that his beloved wife, bound to her wheelchair, is waiting for him to come home. Failure is not an option.Guided by the faith he's long neglected, Steve treads a precarious line, using his hidden position inside the store to feed information to the authorities. But every move is a gamble against the clock, the criminals' temper, and his own faltering courage. In a tale where every second could be his last, Steve must face the demons of his past as well as the gun barrels of the present. Can he rise to the occasion, save the hostages, and return to the arms of the woman who loves and depends on him Or will this three-day weekend end in tragedy Ron Skelton's vivid storytelling leaves readers breathlessly standing on the precipice of life and death as they speed toward the final page.…
