Mr. Malcolm Letts's book is the first serious study of Mandeville for more than twenty-five years.' 'John de Mandeville compiled the famous book of travels which bears his name about 1366. It was soon translated from the French into all European languages. Mandeville was printed in England in 1499 by Wynkyn de Worde, Caxton's foreman and successor, and thereafter until our own times has been the subject of many editions.'.
