Wanna See the Real Singapore, Lah?
So you think Singapore is all about fancy malls on Orchard Road and the chio (pretty) skyline at Marina Bay? Think again! Let your friendly local guide, Jenny, take you by the hand and show you the Singapore that's not in the usual brochures. This isn't just another travel book; it's like having a Singaporean best friend in your pocket, letting you in on all the best-kept secrets, tastiest food, and authentic experiences that make our little red dot truly special.
Don't be blur (clueless)! This guide is packed with everything you need to explore like a local.
Inside, you'll discover:
- Practical Hacks for a Smooth Trip:
- Money-Changing Secrets: Learn exactly where to get the best exchange rates, comparing the airport with local hotspots like Mustafa Centre, Lucky Plaza, and The Arcade so you don't kena conned (get cheated).
- Transport Decoded: I'll explain whether the EZ-Link card, Singapore Tourist Pass, or tapping your own credit card (SimplyGo) is best for you. Plus, a complete guide to taxi surcharges-from Peak Hour to Midnight fees-so the final fare is never a surprise!
- How Not to Kena Saman (Get Fined): A crucial guide to Singapore's famous rules! Learn about the strict laws on chewing gum, why vaping is illegal, where you absolutely cannot smoke, and why you can't even drink plain water on the MRT.
- Confirm Plus Chop Awesome Things to See & Do:
- Hidden Gems in Plain Sight: Find a colourful, historic Peranakan street at Emerald Hill right next to Orchard Road, eat where the locals do at Far East Plaza, and discover the vibrant, rainbow-coloured House of Tan Teng Niah in Little India.
- Secret Views & Local Haunts: Forget expensive observation decks! I'll show you how to get to the 50th-floor public skybridge at The Pinnacle@Duxton for S$6 for a breathtaking panoramic view of the city.
- Amazing Nature Escapes: Explore the wild side of Singapore! Go crocodile-spotting at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, brave the heights of the MacRitchie TreeTop Walk, and experience our "last village" with a trip to rustic Pulau Ubin.
- Act Local, Feel Local:
- Master Hawker Centre Culture: Learn the art of "choping"-reserving your table with a simple packet of tissues-and the new rule about returning your own tray.
- Speak a Bit of Singlish! Get a fun crash course in essential Singlish words like shiok (fantastic!), paiseh (embarrassed), and kiasu (FOMO). I even include a complete guide to ordering your kopi (coffee) like a true local.
Whether it's your first visit or you're a returning traveller ready to dig deeper, this guide is your key to unlocking the true heart and soul of Singapore. If you crave authentic adventures, drool-worthy food, and want to understand what really makes our city tick, this is the book for you.
Don't just see the sights. Experience real Singapore.
