It is a people project. In Simple Data: Master Data Management for People, Not Just Systems, Ram Srinivasan reframes MDM as a human discipline built on shared meaning, trust, stewardship, and organizational alignment. While most MDM programs fail because they start with systems and tools, this book shows how successful programs begin with people.Drawing from years of real-world experience across complex enterprise environments, Ram reveals why meaning breaks down inside organizations, how misalignment creates data drift, and why technology alone cannot fix inconsistent or unreliable master data. Through practical frameworks, step-by-step guidance, and deep behavioral insight, this book demonstrates how to build a people-first MDM program that delivers trust at scale.Readers will learn how to: Define master data meaning in a way that aligns the businessEstablish ownership, stewardship, and decision rights that actually workEmbed governance into operational workflowsBuild quality, lifecycle, and alignment into daily processesUse AI and automation to enhance human judgment, not replace itCreate a culture where data is trusted, understood, and used with confidenceThis is not another technical manual. It is a blueprint for leaders, architects, stewards, and practitioners who want to build MDM that is meaningful, sustainable, and human-centered. This book will change how you think about data and give you the tools to create the clarity, alignment, and trust your organization needs. If you believe that data quality starts with people, that governance is about alignment rather than control, and that trust is the true product of MDM, this book is for you.
