Item description from seller

[5], 26 p.; 18 cm. Lecture in a series on `Approaches to Christian Unity' del. at Chichester College of Further Education `The signs of the times having ecumenical relevance all point to one goal. It is true that we become depressed when we look at the many obstacles that lie on the long road to unity, for we fear that they dispel any hope of full communion. They would certainly do so if our hopes were based solely on human calculation and effort. But when we realize that it is the Holy Spirit who leads the work of men for the achievement of Christian unity, we are comforted by the good will he is inspiring among all the historic Churches. The many brotherly contacts established between them and the drafts for union or reunion now under study are an encouraging token. There may be a difference of opinion on the suitability of fixing a date as a goal for actual union, or even on planning the organic structures and operation of a reunited Church. But the consciousness of the urgent need to recover visible Christian unity in the one Lord is now imbedded in the hearts of all true followers of Christ.'
