This history of visual man's communication follows the evolution of this most basic and essential form of written contact from the most primative indicators to the development of the written word as it is now known, covering the differeing forms this has taken in various periods and among different racial groups. First published in Germany in 1935, a revised edition appeared in 1958 with this third revised and enlarged edition 1970. This edition translated from the German by George Unwin. This an ex-library copy. 613 pages including bibliography, index of scrips, names and subject index, b/w photos drawings, diagrams, scripts, tables etc. throughout . Yellow hard covers with black front decoration/spine titles, single tape marks upper/lower edges both boards, light soiling front top edge, light bruising spine extremities, red ink library codes lower spine, both e/paper gutters tape reinforced, library stamp top FFEP, dealer label lower left, also few small ink drawings/blacked out words, library stamp top edge half-title, childish ball pen scribble lower right margin to third edition preface, library stamp top edge contents page/also introduction page, library stamp, small ink codes top edge RFEP, text block otherwise excellent.
