Item description from seller

London: F. E. Robinson & Co, 1902. Limited numbered Edition. Frontispiece of Charles the First Ist. No. 194 of 320 for sale. pp. [ix-xxxvii], 151. Full vellum binding in the Tudor style with semis proper or a close symmetrical arrangement of small stamps. Gilt decorated boards. Spine also decorated in gilt. Page edges hand cut with the top edge gilt. From the volume: The binding chosen for the present edition of Dr Bates Elenchus Motuum is taken from that covering some Almanacks of 1624, which were bound together for Charles, Prince of Wales, and in which he has written some remarks and signed his name. In the centre are four impressions of the Prince of Wales triple ostrich feather badge within a coronet and with a blank label, arranged as a star. In each corner of the rectangle on each side is an ornament, practically forming a quarter circle, adorned with scrolls and the design of a heart, and the field is powdered with a semis of flaming hearts. The vellum is arranged so as to project over the front edges, forming a little guard, and there are the remains of two silk ties on each corner. Paste down and free endpapers plain. Frontispiece of Charles I with a tissue guard that is detached. Title page is decorated with back. Overall a very nice volume. Size: Approximately 7 ¼ inches tall.
