Two volumes bound as one, comprised of: A Short and Easy Method with the Deists; The Truth of Christianity Demonstrated, in a Dialogue betwixt a Christian and a Deist. In a handsome tree calf binding. A smart volume containing two theological works from former Church of Ireland priest Charles Leslie, who became a leading Jacobite propagandist and is best remembered today for his role in publicising the Massacre of Glencoe. Leslie published a prolific number of Anglican volumes throughout his career. A Short and Easy Method with the Deists originally appeared in 1698 and The Truth of Christianity Demonstrated was first published in 1711. In a handsome tree calf binding. Externally, smart with moderate bumping and rubbing, cracked along both joints, the boards remaining reasonably firm, with further loss of leather, namely to the spine head and tail and board edges. Internally, firmly bound. Expected age toning throughout with scattered spotting, heavier to the first and last few pages. Small chip to the front free endpaper.
