February 27, 2002 marks the centenary of the court martial and subsequent execution by firing squad of Second South Australian Mounted Rifleman, Lieutenant Harry "Breaker" Morant and Lieutenant Peter Handcock. Yes, the famous story of The Breaker is back under the legal spotlight and this time, says author Nick Bleszynski, perhaps justice will be done. It's a universal account of greed, ambition and the power of the political machine that crushes anyone who gets in the way. In much the same way that Bruce Beresford's award-winning feature film "Breaker Morant" captured the popular imagination, "Shoot Straight, You Bastards" is an explosive read- as controversial an event today as it was 100 years ago. In every war there is a character like Morant - a rebellious Renaissance spirit who ends up on the wrong side of the "great cause" and is shot, imprisoned or sent to his certain death. Too many people have tried to put a halt to the "wheel of history" by insisting that all has now been revealed and theirs is the definitive word. But there's always more.always, as this book will reveal 386 pages. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: 1-2 kilos. Category: Biography; Biography & Autobiography; History. ISBN: 174051081X.
