In this first chapter, I shall describe briefly, the various kings of ship models. From this and the many plans throughout the book you can choose your ship and decide on the kind of model you want to build. Before you tackle this, I want to tell you how I came to take up this interesting hobby and also to tell you a little about old ship models, so that if you are able to visit museums, or if you ever come across an old model of a ship, you may be able to recognise it for what it is.
