Underneath the twinkling lights of a Christmas tree, twelve-year-old Matt uncovers a vibrant pom-pom unlike anything he's ever seen—a whimsical gift that holds the key to a cosmic adventure. Meet Yesl, a charismatic member of the mysterious Balkien race from Antrobi, a planet nestled in the depths of the Vegan System. What begins as a simple holiday surprise spirals into an unforgettable journey when Matt, along with his siblings, embarks on a summer escapade to a remote Scottish Hebridean island, where secrets arise, and friendships deepen.
As Yesl introduces them to a strange and fantastic world, Matt learns of her ill-fated crew, including Boongoo and Baingae, who reveal the true horrors they faced on their doomed mission to planet Splogita. Together, they must evade the sinister forces that threaten both Earth and Antrobi, while unravelling the mystery surrounding a fallen spacecraft hidden in a secret cave.
Years later, as an aspiring astrophysicist at an American university, Matt encounters Erin with a kindred spirit who shares his curious dreams of adventure. But just as life seems to edge toward normalcy, the spectre of danger looms once more. With Yesl by his side amidst echoes of their shared journey, Matt and his family must answer an urgent plea for help from Planet, Antrobi. Together, they will face unimaginable challenges, ignite hope, and rally their strength to liberate the Balkien race from tyranny.
