A display box created by the Philadelphia Museums explaining "The Sheep". The main explanatory label reads "Sheep are raised in nearly all temporary parts of the world, in largest numbers in Australia, Argentina, Uruguay, Russia and the United States. The most valuable product of the sheep is wool. Many varieties of sheep are bred, as Merino, Lincoln, Southdown, Highland, etc. giving wool of different length and fineness.The flesh of sheep is used for food, the fat furnishes tallow; catgut is made from the intestines, and the skin is tanned for leather. Presented by the State of Pennsylvania - The Philadelphia Museums". The box displays samples of Sheep skin, Merino wool, Lincoln wool, Native wool, Shoddy, Combed wool, Worsted yarn, Catgut, Woolen yarn, Leather, Chamois, Woolen cloth, Worsted, Flannel (All wool), Flannel (part cotton, Felt, Lanoline" (sic).
