First Printing. Unread. Over the course of his academic career, David Lee Rubin developed a unique critical methodology, which he applied to his investigations of 17th century French literature. This volume contains 14 essays from former students and colleagues of his. Contributions in the first section consider the ways in which 17th century authors drew upon generic conventions or diverse artistic media to create works that reflect the aesthetic and moral values of their time, while those in the second section focus on Jean de La Fontaine's Les Fables.
