Shame is my Monster, a gentle, empowering picture book that helps kids recognize shame, normalize embarrassment, and build emotional resilience. This heartfelt story gives young readers simple, practical tools to manage big feelings and become more confident.
“This story helped my daughter talk about something that happened at school. She realized she’s not the only one who feels ashamed sometimes. It opened the door for healing.” — Parent Review
Includes positive affirmations and emotional coping tools to build self-esteem:
“I’m still a good person.”
“It’s okay to make mistakes.”
“Everyone gets embarrassed sometimes.”
Evelyn freezes during the school play and runs offstage, filled with shame. That night, she meets Sally, the Shame Monster, who grows whenever Evelyn hides her feelings. Sally follows her everywhere, making her feel small. But when a classmate opens up, Evelyn realizes shame isn’t something to fear. It’s something we can face with understanding and self-kindness.
Follow Evelyn’s journey as she learns how to shrink her Shame Monster and find self-confidence.
This picture book teaches children:
- That shame is a normal emotion
- How to talk about embarrassment in a safe and healthy way
- How to use imagination to manage difficult feelings
- How kindness toward yourself can build confidence
- That mistakes are part of learning and growing
