Challenging the notion of Shakespeare's disadvantaged beginnings, the author sheds light on the fortunate circumstances that shaped his path to greatness. Exploring the historical context of Elizabethan England, the author emphasizes the cultural and intellectual vibrancy of the era, highlighting the factors that fostered Shakespeare's artistic development. The book delves into the influence of Shakespeare's family, education, and early literary connections, including his friendship with Richard Field, the publisher of his early poems. The author examines Shakespeare's seemingly unfortunate circumstances, such as his father's financial difficulties and his own early struggles in London, as pivotal turning points that ultimately propelled him towards his theatrical destiny. The book explores Shakespeare's relationships with patrons, fellow actors, and the vibrant theatrical world of London, offering insights into the collaborative nature of playwriting and performance during this period. By illuminating the social, economic, and cultural forces that shaped Shakespeare's life, this book offers a deeper understanding of the Bard's remarkable achievements and enduring legacy. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

- Biography and Autobiography
He was fortunate also in the period in which he arrived. England's heart was heaving. Great Spiritual movements had stirred men's souls to their depths, and given them inspiration to think for themselves amid diverse creeds the literary renaissance had brought their intellects in touch with the great minds of other times, and diverse countries; learning had become a bunger as well as a fashion; students translated, imitated, emulated the philosophers and poets of Greece, Italy, and France. England was in the high tide of fervour through its emancipation from the Pope's authority, its new sense of independence, its command of the sea, and its ever-widening geographical horizons; the romance of a maiden Queen, fortunate since her accession, made a new development in the spirit of patriotism. Poets born in the previous reigns shed their glories on Elizabeth's. The very atmosphere was charged with negative poetical electricity, which only waited for a positive stimulus to flash forth in light.
