In the Shadows of the Sky is a high-stakes military techno-thriller that explores the unseen architecture of modern warfare-where algorithms, precision weapons, and quiet decisions determine the outcome of conflicts long before the first shot is fired. Lieutenant Colonel Ethan Rourke has spent a career operating in the gray space between policy and consequence. As the U.S. military races to field a revolutionary man-in-the-loop strike system alongside an Israeli defense partner, Rourke and his team are tasked with integrating a weapon designed to deliver surgical precision while keeping a human finger on the trigger. The system promises unprecedented control. It also introduces new vulnerabilities no one fully understands. Across the Middle East and Africa, a meticulous adversary named Samir al-Hassan is studying the same weapon from the opposite side of the battlefield. Rather than fighting it head-on, he dissects its debris, traces its origins, and begins to see the seams in a global kill chain built on software, supply routes, and human assumptions. His objective is not retaliation-it is inversion. As training accelerates, political pressure mounts, and operational timelines collapse, Rourke must navigate fractured alliances, competing doctrines, and the uncomfortable truth that the most dangerous threats are no longer external. The battlefield is no longer distant. It is distributed, networked, and increasingly domestic. Blending technical authenticity with geopolitical tension, In the Shadows of the Sky examines how modern wars are shaped by procurement decisions, autonomy boundaries, and the fragile trust between humans and machines. The novel offers a rare, insider-informed look at how today's conflicts are forged in briefing rooms, test ranges, and lines of code-long before they reach the public eye. This debut novel launches a series that confronts the consequences of precision warfare in an era where control is assumed, oversight is fragmented, and the shadows are closer than anyone wants to admit.…
