Paperback. In 1973 a war is brewing in the Middle East and the Israeli command turns to America's secret special operations group for assistance. A small team of specialists are sent to the Holy Land to aid the United States ally, the situation takes a dangerous turn and one man must find a lost comrade in the rugged Negev Desert and bring him home. There can be only one man for the job, the world class sniper code named Shadow. Sergeant Peter Lucas aka Shadow braves the brutal conditions, Egyptian soldiers and his nemesis Evgeny Kolskoff in a life and death fight. The Soviets have gotten a man deep inside the Israeli Mossad and are intercepting secret communications between Washington and Tel Aviv throwing the mission into chaos. Twists and turns confront the Americans like the shifting sands of the desert, sending the military and the CIA into panic as individuals from both departments end up captured by the Egyptians.
