Paperback. A deliciously dark and deep story of wild griffins, equal to and ruling alongside humans. The first novel in a fabulous new trilogy by KJ Taylor. Laela Redguard is a half-breed Northerner raised in the South. Left homeless after the death of her foster father, Laela sets out in search of a place in the world and chooses to go to the North - a land now ruled by the infamous Arenadd taranisaii and his partner, the unpredictable dark griffin Skandar. It is a place where Southerners are not welcome, a place in which Laela cannot hope to survive for long. But then someone comes into Laela's life. A new friend. A dangerous friend. A friend who offers a place in the world - but that place may come at a higher price than anyone suspected . This item is printed on demand. While Laela s Northern features allow her to blend into the crowds of the King s seat at Malvern, she cannot avoid falling victim to a pair of common thugs. When a stranger saves her life and gives her a place to stay, Laela is shocked to learn he is Arenadd himself a man said to be a murderer who sold his soul to the Night God the King without a heart.
Arenadd is unsure what compels him to help this girl, but there is something about her that seems familiar, something he cannot remember something that may rise up to banish the darkness forever "
