Hardcover. "She'd thought her third year medical exams had been draining, but this. this was beyond compare." A failed kidnapping When her beloved sister narrowly avoids being snatched from her own backyard, Alyssa Pierce's strong faith in God is seriously challenged for the first time in years. Especially when it appears that the attempt may signify a real threat and a team of former special-ops soldiers are employed for Stacey's protection. A university placement Meanwhile Alyssa's university studies require her to leave her family and fears behind in Townsville and travel to the small town of Mareeba for eight weeks. Without the constant reminder of the threat against her sister, Alyssa quickly begins to relax and enjoy her studies and time with her friends. In particular, she finds herself growing unexpectedly close to reserved former soldier Nate Campbell, whilst her long-time friend, Mick Brown, begins to see their relationship in a different light. A threat lurking in the Shadows As time advances, the threat to Stacey appears to diminish. Yet Alyssa can't quite shake the impression that she is being watched. That shadows trail her every move. When the threat to Alyssa becomes suddenly tangible, she must rely on her friends - and her Lord - to protect her. But has she placed her trust in the wrong man? The wrong God?
