By blending in the music of the 50's and early 60's, David Cady-author of THE HANDLER and FATAL OPTION-takes the reader on a nostalgic and suspenseful trip back to the summer just before the assassination of JFK, the escalation of the Vietnam War, and the explosion of the civil rights movement . The narrative starts in Daytona Beach, Florida-1996-with two detectives arriving at a murder scene of a young woman-fully nude-along the edge of the Halifax River at Tomoka State Park. The younger detective starts questioning the older sergeant about the last murder that took place in Tomoka 33 years before. It is 1963-Scott "Bozz" Bostwick along with three of his friends arrive at Daytona Beach after traveling 500 miles from their home in North Georgia. They plan to party, hit on some chicks, and drink lots of beer. By midweek-desperate because he hasn't hooked up with any girls-Bozz strikes up a conversation with the most gorgeous and sexiest girl at the Pier Dance. While dancing with this free-spirited beauty, Bozz learns that her name is Ginger, she is a local girl, and that she is with another local native, Becky-a gorgeous blond. Easily, the girls coax Bozz and his buddy TJ into taking them to the ghostly Tomoka State Park in search of a mysterious light. Bozz, TJ, and the girls leave friends Red and Lard at the boardwalk where soon two burly men-Travis and Jesse-abduct the two teen boys and force them into going with them to Tomoka in search of the girls, Ginger and Becky, whom the psychopathic men seem to know well. It is 1996 -the two detectives, while investigating the recent murder at Tomoka-talk about the murder many years before. The sergeant reveals that the night of the murder 33 years before one of the guys had his privates cut off, that two people were killed, and that he was there. It is 1963-Bozz's group runs out of gas in the middle of an isolated Tomoka many miles from anyone-so they think. Bozz and Ginger walk deeper into Tomoka searching for gas while TJ and Becky wait at the car. As the two, now drunk, pursuers drive Red and Lard deeper into Tomoka they divulge that they have just gotten out of prison and that Ginger and Becky are more than just friends to the vengeful men. A night of horror develops for the boys and Bozz finds himself stranded in a swamp fleeing for his life with a girl who has too many secrets. This item is printed on demand.
