The Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit 978-1-947070-23-3
Whether you are just about to make your Confirmation or you made it over 50 years ago, there is more to know and cherish about the awesome gifts of the Holy Spirit. Reading and reflecting on Bishop Serratelli's words will enable you to be more open to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. Through history, art, Scripture, and Catholic documents, you will appreciate and grasp more fully how the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit can help you to live a truly authentic Christian life filled with peace and joy.
The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit--wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord--are essential treasures in Catholic theology, bestowed at Baptism and strengthened in Confirmation. Rooted in Isaiah 11:2-3, they equip believers to live virtuously, discern God's will, and grow in holiness, making them vital for spiritual maturity and navigating life's challenges.
Among the features of this book are:
- Sturdy flexible cover
- Size 3-3/8" x 5-3/4"
- Beautiful, full color illustrations throughout
- High-quality paper
- Scripture reflections
- Conveniently sized to accommodate nightstand or purse
- Nihil Obstat

Learning about the seven gifts and going deeper enhances our understanding and power of the Holy Spirit. Wisdom, the highest gift, enables one to see reality through God's perspective, prioritizing eternal truths over fleeting desires. It fosters a deep love for divine things, guiding decisions with clarity and peace. Understanding complements this by illuminating the mysteries of faith, such as the Trinity or Eucharist, deepening comprehension and trust in God's revelation.
Counsel, or right judgment, empowers individuals to choose wisely amid moral dilemmas. It acts as an inner compass, aligning actions with God's law, especially in complex situations. Fortitude, the gift of courage, strengthens the soul to persevere through trials--whether persecution, temptation, or personal loss--ensuring steadfastness in faith.
Knowledge directs one to use creation rightly, recognizing its purpose in God's plan. It prevents misuse of worldly goods and fosters gratitude, balancing material and spiritual life. Piety, a gift of reverence, nurtures a filial relationship with God and respect for others as His children. It inspires heartfelt prayer and acts of charity, binding communities in love.
Fear of the Lord, far from dread, is a holy awe of God's majesty and a humble recognition of human dependence on Him. It curbs pride and sin, anchoring the soul in reverence and obedience.
Together, these gifts transform believers into active participants in God's mission. They cultivate a life of grace, enabling one to bear the fruits of the Spirit--love, joy, peace--and witness to Christ. For individuals and the Church, the seven gifts are indispensable, shaping a faith that is both resilient and radiant.
